How Cooks Hired works

Customers book home cooks. Cooks get paid to cook. Here's how both sides work.

01

Set your address and slot

Enter your suburb and city, pick a date, a start time and how many people you're feeding. We only show cooks who travel to you and are free then.

02

Choose your cook and dishes

Every cook publishes a menu with per-person pricing and cuisine. Mix and match dishes for the visit.

03

Decide on groceries

Ask your cook to shop for you — we budget roughly R95 per person and settle the actual slip afterwards — or leave your own ingredients out and they just cook.

04

Book once or set a rhythm

Book a single visit, or turn it into a recurring visit like every Sunday at 11:00. Recurring visits can be paused any time.

Common questions

What does a visit cost?

Standard Cooks Hired pricing: R300 for 4 people, one serving, one day. Then R75 per extra person, R125 per extra day and R125 per extra serving a day, plus a small service fee. Groceries are extra only if your cook shops.

Are cooks vetted?

Every cook submits an ID document and, where relevant, a food handling certificate. Verified badges only appear once our team has checked them.

Can I cancel?

Yes — free cancellation up to 24 hours before the booking starts. Inside 24 hours the cook keeps a portion of the fee for the reserved slot.

Does the cook clean up?

Yes. Cooks leave the kitchen as they found it, including dishes used for cooking and serving.
