Cooks Hired is the responsible party for the personal information processed through this platform. You can reach our Information Officer at hello@cookshired.co.za.

• Account details: name, email address, phone number and password when you sign up.
• Location details: your suburb, city and delivery or service address so we can match you with nearby cooks.
• Booking information: dates, times, dish selections, dietary preferences and booking history.
• Cook verification details: identity documents, proof of address and food-handling certificates, collected from cooks for safety and vetting purposes.
• Payment information: payments are processed by our payment partners; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
• Device and usage data: device type, push notification identifiers and basic analytics used to keep the app working well.

• To create and manage your account and process bookings.
• To match customers with cooks in their area.
• To process payments and cook payouts.
• To verify the identity of cooks and keep the platform safe.
• To send booking updates, receipts and service notifications.
• To improve the platform, prevent fraud and meet legal obligations.

We only process personal information where we have a lawful basis to do so under POPIA.

We share the minimum necessary information with the cook or customer involved in your booking (for example, a cook sees the customer's first name, suburb and booking details). We also use trusted service providers — such as payment processors, mapping services, cloud hosting and notification providers — who process information on our behalf under confidentiality obligations. We do not sell your personal information.

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including access controls and encryption in transit. We keep information only for as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, after which it is deleted or de-identified.

You have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you.
• Request correction or deletion of your personal information.
• Object to processing in certain circumstances.
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) at enquiries@inforegulator.org.za.
